Ryan Jenson

Serial Entrepeneur   |   LinkedIn

Ryan’s life has been anything but usual. He was born in Brazil, raised in Oregon, and a college graduate at age 19, and that’s just the beginning. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and subsequently enrolled in aeronautics and astronautics (i.e. rocket science) at Stanford University. Shortly thereafter he dropped out and returned to Portland where he finished his master’s degree working with NASA, training astronauts, and coordinating experiments aboard the International Space Station.

Following graduate school, he put his engineering skills to work in areas as diverse as advanced propulsion, biodiesel distillation, MEMs, microfluidics, and nanotechnology, to name a few. In his efforts to combine technology and business he’s worked with Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, startups, NASA, DOD, DOE, NSF, and the Royal Navy.

He has co-founded companies specializing in the development of advanced hardware for spacecraft and the use of unmanned aircraft in precision agriculture. He might also have some deep insight into combining bits and coins…maybe.

As an engaged member of the startup community he routinely advises on strategy and technology development for a variety of companies and has been actively involved with SUWE, OEN, Angel Oregon 2012 & 2013, the PSU eClub, and the Portland State Business Accelerator.
