#PDXSW Minimizes Waste! Extra Food Supports WellBeing Outreach

PDXSW was pleased to provide plentiful, delicious and nutritious meals all weekend long to help keep teams running strong! But what about the leftovers?

Thanks to the foresight and planning of PDXSW organizer Marvin Alvarez, PDXSW’s extra food was provided to The Well Community Church’s “WellBeing” ministry. WellBeing is a weekly outreach to neighbors in the community who are HIV positive. For the past 5 years, WellBeing has provided a hot meal every Sunday afternoon to anyone who is HIV positive that graces their doors. Set up begins at 2pm; the meal is served at 4pm. By 5:30pm the food is gone, dishes are done, the floor is vacuumed, and it’s time to head home.

Pastor/Elder Eric Davis, of The Well Community Church, was on-hand during part of PDXSW to help load and transport the extra food and was appreciative of the support! Thank you WellBeing for your service to the community and for helping PDXSW use resources more wisely! Check out WellBeing’s Facebook page, WellBeing Meals, for more info.
