A healthy startup community is an eco-system. There is support for entrepreneurs and companies at every stage. In Portland we have some great incubators, like the Portland Incubator Experiment (PIE), and a great early stage investment fund, the Portland Seed Fund (PSF).
It takes a lot of hard work before companies are ready for PIE or the PSF and Portland Startup Weekend is a great place for entrepreneurs to start. Our last event featured 14 teams, 11 of which continued on and are growing into exciting companies that aim to disrupt industries.
Today, we are excited to announce that two of those alumni companies from October 2011 are now members of the Portland Seed Fund! Good Works Now and Tell it in 10 have both been selected as members of the latest PSF class. These PDXSW alumni companies will participate in a 90 day bootcamp, similar to those of TechStars or Y-Combinator, and will receive a $25,000 capital investment from the fund. The program ends with a demo day for prominent angel and venture capital investors from around the West Coast.
