Getting to and parking at Urban Airship Oct 14-16

Portland Startup Weekend is being held at the offices of Urban Airship October 14-16, 2011. One of the reasons for holding the event at Urban Airship is the central location in downtown Portland. No matter what part of the metro area you live in, Urban Airship is reasonably easy to access.

Urban Airship is located at 334 NW 11th Ave, near the corner of NW Flanders, in Portland. The entrance on NW 11th is conveniently located less than 1 block from the 11th & Everett stop of the Portland Street Car. This stop is also inside the Free Rail Zone. The corresponding stop for trains traveling the other direction is 1 block away on 10th & Everett.

The Portland Street Car runs approximately every 13 minutes. The last full service southbound train stops at NW 11th & Everett at approximately 9:15pm on Friday & Saturday (8:22pm on Sunday). The last full service northbound train leaves NW 10th & Everett at approximately 10:22pm on Friday & Saturday (9:25pm on Sunday).

MAX trains aren’t too far from Urban Airship, either. Just 7 blocks south on 11th and 2 blocks east, you’ll find stops for the Max Blue and Red lines. To access the Yellow and Green lines, leave Urban Airship on Flanders and walk 6 blocks to the east, then 2 blocks north.

If you are riding by bus, you’ll want to connect to the 17 line. For eastbound busses, use stop #1607. Westbound busses are stop #2030. The #17 runs through the transit mall in central downtown for transfers to other lines. This bus continues to run at around midnight.

If public transportation doesn’t work for you, please consider car-pooling. Parking in downtown can be difficult. There is a large, underground lot that is entered on NW 12th or NW 13th, between Couch and Davis. This lot is approximately 3-5 blocks away, depending on where you enter/exit. U-Park operates a lot at NW 11th & Davis, just 2 blocks from Urban Airship.

Street parking is always an option but you’ll be required to pay every 90 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the block. Portland parking enforcement requires that your car is moved at least 1.5 blocks each time your payment expires. This law is enforced. Street parking requires payment even on Sunday, after 1pm.

Finally, DO NOT park in the Urban Airship spots located on NW Flanders. Thanks.
